The 7 Core Aims
Our 7 Core Aims are the heartbeat of everything we do, ensuring every child and young person has the chance to shine. These aims are our guiding stars, aligned with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, ensuring we uphold the highest standards of care and support.
Ever wondered what makes a school truly special? It’s the people—the families, the teachers, the community—all coming together.
Our 7 Core Aims fuel our mission to bring everyone into the fold, ensuring well-being, enriching educational experiences, and building those tight-knit community bonds. Education is more than textbooks and tests. We aim to create vibrant learning environments where students explore, innovate, and succeed. It’s about making every school a hub of exciting educational opportunities. These aims drive our mission to foster family and community engagement, support well-being, enhance educational experiences, build strong community ties, encourage lifelong learning, promote inclusivity, and drive continuous improvement. Together, we can create thriving communities where every family has the opportunity to succeed.

Core Aim 1: A Flying Start
#Articles 3, 6, 18, 27, 28, 29 & 36
Children and young people, along with their families, should be provided the support needed to take full advantage of educational opportunities. We ensure a "Flying Start" during transitions to primary school, secondary school, further education, and special provisions, setting the stage for lifelong success.

Core Aim 2: Education, Training, and Learning Opportunities
#Articles 3, 13, 14, 17, 28 & 29
Education goes beyond the classroom. We encourage children and young people to engage in extracurricular activities and community-based learning. Schools play a crucial role in helping parents access these opportunities, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.

Core Aim 3: Best Possible Health and Free from Abuse, Victimisation, and Exploitation
#Articles 2, 5, 6, 11, 14, 19-27, 30, 32 & 34-40
Promoting a healthy lifestyle and ensuring safety are paramount. Schools collaborate with health and social services to protect children and young people from abuse and exploitation, providing the necessary support to keep them safe and well.

Core Aim 4: Play, Leisure, Sporting, and Cultural Activities
#Articles 15, 23, 29 & 31
Access to a variety of activities is essential for well-rounded development. Schools not only offer these activities but also help children and young people tap into the broader array of options available in their local communities, enriching their lives beyond academics.

Core Aim 5: Being Listened to, Treated with Respect, and Race and Culture Recognised
#Articles 3 & 12-17
In our diverse society, respect and recognition are crucial. We ensure that all children and young people have opportunities to express their views and are treated with respect. This fosters an inclusive school environment where everyone feels valued and heard.

Core Aim 6: Safe Community and Home Supporting Physical and Emotional Wellbeing
#Articles 9-11, 15, 16, 23, 33, 37 & 40
Physical and emotional wellbeing are foundational to thriving in an increasingly complex world. Schools, in partnership with other agencies, play a key role in supporting the emotional development and overall wellbeing of children and young people, ensuring a safe and supportive community.

Core Aim 7: Not Disadvantaged by Poverty
#Articles 18, 26 & 27
We recognise that poverty impacts many families. Schools work to help families access benefits and minimise the effects of poverty, ensuring that all children and young people can fully participate in school and community activities, levelling the playing field for their success.
